My scores
My score is 840 for the week and I survived my week of double workouts. Had fun playing. Hope you all have a great weekend and relax a bit knowing you don't have to blog or count points or waterboard yourself.
GOOD GAME!!!!
Well, it was a weird week but we made it through. I can't believe most of us have been doing this for 2 months now and I'm so happy with the results. Although it has been a "slow" but "healthy" weight-loss, I'm happy to be able to say that I am 12 pounds lighter than I would've been if I never did the game-on diet. And most importantly, I feel good physically and mentally. I would still like to get to my ultimate goal....but without the help and support and fun competition with you all I'd still be thinking it was a lost cause. There is finally a light at the end of the tunnel! GOOD GAME, GOOD GAME!

Disappointing last weigh in
This week I didn't lose my weight again. I am at my stubborn set point. My body can't seem to get past a certain number no matter what I try. My score was 710. Jon will post his later. Thank you all for letting us play the game. It was fun!

One last dinner idea
This new one is just a little bit different than previous ones, but it is one of my favorites.
zucchini
yellow squash
mushrooms (of course)
sweet bell pepper
italian-style diced tomatoes (canned)
cooked wheat pasta
fat free mozzerella cheese
parmesan cheese
italian seasoning (basil, oregano, thyme)
salt and pepper
garlic (powder, minced or whatever your preference is)
Saute the vegetables in a small amount of olive oil. I also added just a little bit of water for some steaming effect on the veggies. Saute until tender. Season with seasoning as above. I added the tomatoes towards the end because the didn't need to cook, just get warm and reduce a little bit. I added the pasta (penne or bowtie) and mixed around until coated. Turned the heat down and sprinkle on the cheeses and put the lid on for just a few minutes to let the cheese melt on top. SOOOO YUMMY! I have had it for the last 3 meals!!!!
Definately a keeper!
Good luck to everyone tomorrow. I am proud of you all and hope that you have enjoyed the game.

Good luck!
I hope we all have a great day tomorrow. I have really enjoyed all the blogs, the new habits I have acquired and hope to keep, the old ones I have said good riddins to, and the great recipes. Thanks so much for letting me join your family in the great adventure. It has made me so much more commited then anything else I have done. I hope to do it again!
Last day
I can't believe our last day is tomorrow! I am happy with the changes we have made even if we don't win. However, I will be happier if I have a little extra to spend. Most likely it will be spent on eating out! We have only eaten out once or twice during the game. I am ready for a good meal out!
The scale is from the devil
I refuse to weigh everyday. I refuse to be take hostage by a number on a scale. I refuse to think less of myself if I weigh 2 pounds more than I want to or even 10 pounds more! I refuse to be defined by a number. I refuse to let one more minute pass being sad or mad or frustrated by a number that changes because of things that are difficult(if not impossible) to control. Poop, water weight, stress, hormones, bleeding uterus, ?????, just not going to get down about it. It is not worth the mental energy trying to figure it out. BE HAPPY, that is my advice! Be happy with the changes you are making. I think sometimes, we stress so much about the stupid number, that we overlook all of the good things that we are doing in our lives. Are you healthier than you were 4 weeks ago? Are you making good choices each day? At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what the stupid jack rabbit as_ scale says... You are all beautiful people with wonderful strengths and weaknesses that challenge (and make us better). DON'T WEIGH YOURSELF EVERYDAY, unless you are willing to accept yourself, whatever number it shows!!
And now, I am stepping off my soapbox... I love you all and I am proud of all you are doing!!!

my favorite way to eat fruit (except for on cheesecake)
i love to eat fresh fruit salad.
a few baby carrots, chopped really small
an apple, cut up
an orange, cut up
all mixed together with some lime juice. it is also yummy with some frozen berries that are slightly thawed and a few raisins or craisins for another texture.

Weird weight gain
I have been having some weird weight stuff going on. Yesterday I was up 5 pounds! Luckily today I was back down 4. I hope this doesn't happen any more. I was a bit discouraged. I hope the scale is good to me on Friday! Also, I have been forgetting to check the comments. Thank you all for the nice things you say!

yeah! look at all these yummy recipes. for dinner tonight, we had one of our favorites...black bean burgers and sweet potatoe chips.
black bean burgers:
1 can of black beans (drained and rinsed and then smashed with a potatoe masher)
1/2 cup of flour
2 slices of wheat bread crumbled (i used 1 oroweat sandwich thin)
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. season all
salt and pepper
mix together. it is easy to do with your hands. make 4 patties. fry in a little oil (i used 1 tablespoon of canola oil). we ate ours on a sandwich thin with all the regular hamburger fixins.
one black bean burger on a sanwich thin = 4 WW points.
for the sweet potatoe chips:
peel the sweet potatoe and slice. bake in 400 degree oven on sprayed cookie sheet. i put sea salt on them before i put them in. they take a while to bake (probably about 40 minutes). we like them when they are just beginning to start to brown (they aren't crispy).

Yummy dinner
I made Stacy's chicken broccoli pasta dinner and added zucchini, spinach, and tomato for added vegies. My family said it was the best dinner ever!!!! Stacy's recipes are the BOMB!!!
good dinner!
I took one egg, two egg whites and made an omelet with spinach, mushrooms and onions. I topped it with a little Rotel. Delicious!
It must be the 4th week rut or something. I am feeling the same as you Kim and Stacy. I finally went shopping today. Hopefully I can get back on track too. Recipes would be appreciated if anyone has any. I went back to an old standby today that we haven't had in a while. Again all I ever post is hungry girl recipes but here it is. We modified a little but here are the basics.
Chinese Chicken Salad
Broccoli slaw (At the store it is by the bagged lettuce. I did not know about it forever but it is really good.)
Cooked chicken (Sometimes I use canned chicken if I don't have any ready to use.)
mandarin oranges
scallions
water chesnuts
Kraft or Newman's Own light asian sesame dressing
slivered almonds and/or rice noodles
We don't really have a certain quantity of each. We just build a salad with the stuff we like most. Of course you have to watch the almonds and rice noodles but it needs something for crunch.

Something's Gotta Change
Don't know what's happening with my motivation....maybe it's just "that time of the month"! Don't know if I just need another mental break for a week or so, but I'm suddenly losing my motivation. Haven't done too bad as far as falling for temptations, but I'm feeling more often this week like I want to. Maybe it's that I'm running out of meal ideas and feeling a bit bored. PLEASE HELP....ANYONE???
Lunch today
I think I will be ready for a break after weigh in on friday. Love the game but need some new healthy recipes, I am running out of creative fun ideas..

Colon Cleanse anyone?
This is my second day on a 10 day colon cleanse and my colon feels like it's tied in knots. I'm eating way more vegies than usual and i think i have put my gut into shock! Pray for me that the cleanse part will happen soon!!!!
Ready to Go!
Well guys, I changed my diet plan. I started HCG on Friday so starting tomorrow is my starvation mode. After tomorrow I will only be having 500 calories a day for 40 days. Wish me luck! I am actually very excited to start it again. It was very successful last time. I am so sick of food tonight that I want to barf!!! Have a great week!
My day off was not worth it
My day started out good but went downhill fast. My first mistake was not going shopping leaving very little healthy food around. I ended up taking my day off today and ate some chips and candy. Now I don't feel very well. That is what I get. I am glad I am learning to eat healthy to feel good. The junk food didn't taste as good as usual either. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.
Broccoli Chicken Pasta Toss
Not really a recipe, just an idea I had at dinner today when I only had a few minutes to fix something healthy.
Whole grain pasta
grilled chicken
steamed broccoli
parmesan cheese (not a lot, just a bit)
Cut chicken up into bite-sized bits. I tossed all together with no butter or oil at all and it was REALLY good. Easy to change for the family, just added butter and more parmesan cheese to theirs. Everyone ate it all up!

I survived a very tempting day
I went with a bunch of people to a buffet consisting of all you can eat salad, pizza, pasta and dessert pizza's. Resisting all but a salad without dressing made me feel very strong. Yeah!
Meal off...
It seems as though I am enjoying my meals off less and less as I realize how much worse I feel when I eat crappy. I love that when I do eat a not-so-healthy meal or item, I definately don't eat as much of it and I don't seem to enjoy it as much as I used to. I mean, to be completely honest, I will always eat popcorn, no matter how sick and bloated it makes me, but I do recognize a difference in how I respond to good vs bad food. Thanks for everyones positive comments and good luck this last week!!
yummy
stacy, i made your orange chicken last night and we ate it with rice and broccoli. it was so good! do you have any new recipes? we are having your lettuce wraps tonight. i have to eat them once a week now. for dessert, we will be having hungry-girl's mississippi mug pie. chocolate yumminess. i can't wait. can you tell that i am hungry right now? i need to go eat lunch.

I love my sis!!
I know Lori thinks we suck because of our low points this week, but i have seen a huge change in her daily commitment with exercise and her eating. We both need to acknowledge our good changes and realize we can't become perfect overnight! She is an inspiration to me for never giving up!
We Suck!
O.K. here are our scores: Jodi 688 Lori 641 with a period pass. We feel really good though, because this is making us change our bad habits. We are both determined to have a perfect week the last week and kick all your butts!!!! Have a great day :)
By the skin of my teeth
Lost just what I needed to and completed my fitness goal of 3 hours of yoga this week. I am so proud of everyone and their efforts and hope that you all are enjoying the game. My next fitness goal is to complete a week of doubles of p90X (double workouts each day)..CRAZY!
Darn it!
Of course I just had to start my "monthly joy" last night and missed my weight loss by just a couple of ounces. I was hoping to get lucky and just miss my period all together this month....yeah right (I guess it's better to have it than to think I'm prego again)! So, PERIOD PASS for me this week! I'm very proud of my hubby who's hard work has been consistently paying off. Better luck to everyone else!
WHOOPPEEE!!!
I had a perfect week and lost 4 pounds! One night I was exercising at 11:30 p.m. until midnight, but made myself do it. Some weeks are just way easier than others. I hope you're all happy this morning after the weigh-in! Only one week left -- makes me sad. Thanks for being such good examples and for the encouragement!

good luck everyone
i can't believe another week has past. good luck on the scale tomorrow! i feel like i will need it (whatever, i always need it).

What to post???????
I'm sitting here wondering what to post so i can go to bed on time and i can't think of anything. I hope this counts for something!!!
Tonight I made turkey chili with cornbread muffins. The chili was good and I thought the muffins were too. Jon did not agree. Exact quote from Jon, "Ugh, these taste like corn!" Shocking, cornbread muffins taste like corn. In his defense, they did have cream corn in them. They were again a hungry girl recipe and only had 130 calories and .5 grams of fat. Looks like I will be eating the entire batch of muffins myself. Shannon, in terms of recipe ridicule these might be as famous as barf in a cone.

rough day
it was a little bit of a rough day. i am just now doing my communication (it is 10:30) and i just finished my 20 minutes of exercise. there is no reason for it other than that i was lazy and didn't want to do it. i am glad that i don't feel like this every day.
I love it when our weaknesses become our strengths
I never thought i would ever be a water drinker but i am amazed at how easy this has become a habit. I'm even spending less time in the water closet. I am noticing a lot more facial hair though! Do you think i am watering too much?
pain!
My back and abs are killing from yesterdays workout. I am begging everyone to not make me laugh and when I cough it about kills me. No pain, no gain I guess :)
I am normal!
I had a small victory today when Wii Fit told me I was "normal" instead of "overweight" like it usually does. I was pleasantly surprised when it didn't do a wah wah and an ugly little dance. Take that Wii Fit!

Crap!
I did so good yesterday, and today my kids wanted me to take them to see Valentines day, so I took my bottled water (because I already had my diet coke on saturday), and was going to pop my own diet popcorn but ran out of time. I couldn't resist the hot, buttery, delicious popcorn at the movie so I had a few handfuls :( Better luck next time I guess! Penalty! Sorry Jodi!
You Guys Are Good!
Sounds like everyone made it through the weekend without too many scars. All of you are very impressive! Stacy, your day off makes me hurt all over, but all of it sounds heavenly. Let's all have a good rest of the week!
fondue
the fondue that i mentioned previously ended up being 7 WW points for my whole meal. not too bad. it was yummy. i made the fondue with 4 ounces of light cheese, a tablespoon of cornstarch (stirred into the shredded cheese) and then added to boiling chicken broth. we dipped cooked chicken breast, foccacia bread, carrots, celery, apples, and broccoli. loved it!
Mondays...
I am actually glad to have this weekend over... My birthday, the weekend, valentines day = lots of good food to eat and lots of fattening food that needs to be resisted. I am ready for a week of perfection!

Valentines Day!
Because I have used my meal off and day off, I had to be perfect today. I made pink belgian waffles with fresh strawberries and whip cream for breakfast and I didn't even have one bite! I used the whole wheat boboli pizza crust for lunch, with chicken, grilled mushrooms and onion, low fat mozarella cheese, and a small amount of barbeque sauce, it was wonderful and my kids loved it too. Happy valentines day!
Guiltless Molten Lava Cake
We just made the best molten lava cake for our Valentine's Day treat. I had to blog about it immediately. Sorry Tyler it is hungry girl again but what can I say she is good. Here is the link http://www.hungry-girl.com/chew/chewdetails.php?isid=1660 I once had a slight addiction to Chili's molten lava cake. This is a close second. I had to make a couple of revisions. I had to use powdered creamer and mix it with 1 t. water instead of liquid creamer. We had smaller ramekins so I divided into 6 portions rather than 4. Dividing it that way turned out to be 128 calories and 3 grams of fat. I also had to bake it longer than it said by about 5 min. Nothing better than having a good treat and staying under my calories for the day.
Happy Valentines Day!
Hang in there everyone! I know I am barely resisting the homemade banana cream cheesecake I made Todd for Valentines Day. I will have to freeze a little piece for my next day off...
happy valentine's day!
i already took my day off, but i think i will be making some yummy fondue to dip vegetables, fruit and chicken in. i still need to calculate the WW points, but i don't think it will be too bad.
i hope you all have a great day with your loved ones!

Saturday, February 13, 2010
We went out to eat tonight at Applebees. They have meals under 550 calories and it was actually really good. I didn't have to take my day off when we went out for once. Last night went to our ward Valentine Party and they had a chocolate fountain. That is trouble for me. It was super hard not to have any but we did it!
great valentine's weekend so far
So, my cute (and skinny) hubby came home from work early yesterday bearing a dozen red roses and offered to babysit Avery while I had to be to Koy's class party. Then he made me the best low-fat taco salad ever for dinner. He really does need to be a chef someday....but not until he cooks for me more often first!!! Then angel baby Jake stayed the night with us and was such a dream boat. We exercised as a whole family this morning so Ty could try out the new weights and work out shorts I got him and then we dipped some strawberries in chocolate to treat ourselves (but not until lunch tomorrow).
post day-off misery
in and out burger, fries, cheez-its, diet coke, chocolate chip cookies, chips and salsa, fajitas, reeses peanut butter cups, licorice and buttered popcorn..
so sick last night.
it kind of felt good to be naughty though.
back to the grind today!

I Just Have To Say
.....I am so proud of my baby brother, Travis. He has lost 17 pounds in 2 weeks and going strong! I love you Trav!
dang.
i thought i was going to get my 1% this week. not to be. i did lose, so that's good, just not quite enough. next week.
This week
Ok. Here's my points for this week. Next week WILL be better. 700 total. Hope all is well with everyone. I think I've finally got this figured out (the posting thing, that is)! I really have been posting most days, but I think that I've been doing it wrong. Anyway, thanks again for letting me be a part of the fun.
Day of Reckoning
Time to fess up . . . I did everything right except I didn't get my 1% so my score is 710. Sorry teammates! I'm not far off, so I'll do better this week -- doesn't that scare all you opponents? On a happier note, Happy Birthday Stacy! I hope you have a wonderful day! Sure do love you.
Points
I got 844 but I am taking my period pass. If I don't make my weight goals next week do I deduct my bonus points from this week? Jon got 680, unless he gets to take a period pass too.
Score
Well my score this week it 758. I improved! Yay! I think I broke my finger yesterday. That is going to be interesting for lifting today!
Jodi's score is 821! Way to go Jodi!

Contest extension anyone?????
I'm loving the contest and want it to last longer. I'm not perfect by any means but i think it will take me more than 4 weeks to create lasting habits and to reach my goal. Does anyone else agree?
Yummy Soup
I made some soup today that turned out so good! It started with a Minnestrone recipe I had but I modified it some. It is basically just veggie soup. You can add any veggies you like. I love it because I usually have all of the ingredients on hand.
2 c. vegetable or chicken stock
2 8 oz. cans V8
1 c. whole wheat pasta - any kind
1 can white beans - drained and rinsed
1 can diced tomatoes - with juice
1 can corn - drained
8 oz. frozen spinach
1/2 to 1 c. carrots chopped
1/2 c. to 1 c. celery chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 t. dried parsley
1 t. dried oregano
1 t. dried basil
1 bay leaf
salt and pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients together in a large pot and simmer until carrots, celery and pasta are tender. Remove bay leaf before serving.

so annoyed...
i forgot to do my new good habit yesterday (learn about my new camera and photography). i would just take it as my free day, but i already used that. why is it so hard to remember? i need to make myself a checklist that i look at every night. sorry about the point deduction stacy and mom.
i made stacy's lettuce wraps again last night. i think that it might be my favorite meal (healthy and unhealthy included). so good!!! i am ready for more recipes. any new ones out there?

Money
In case I don't talk to you all soon, I need all my family members to send me $25 for the POT! Thank you, and good luck to everyone on the scale tomorrow....I know I'll need it!

So hungry
It is only 9:40 in the morning and I am already starving... What is up with that? Somedays just seem harder than others and I have a feeling that this day might be hard.
sick!
Feeling yucky today, it will be fun to see if I can get all my exercise and nutrition in when I don't feel like eating!

Workouts are awesome!!
I have been following the cross fit workout for over a month now and for all you P90Xers, you should try this one when you get sick of P90X or just need a change. I have never once had a repeat workout and i can actually see more muscle definition. You can check the website daily for the workout of the day. I love it!
Need a Kick in the "You Know What"
Staff meeting all day today. I ate too many munchies and feel like the Super Bowl all over again. Determined to do better, but some days it's really a struggle. I'm hanging in there though. I really like the idea of splitting the winnings -- good job Tyler!
yummy lunch
for lunch today, i had a yummy turkey hot dog. i cut it in half, warmed it in a skillet and ate each half on a half of a sandwich thin with mustard and diced up pickles. it was like two little hot dog tacos. only 3 WW points mom. yum-yum!
Plyometrics (were designed by Satan)
As many of you know, my husband has me doing this crazy p90X workout. I have been doing it now for probably a little more than 2 months, not missing a day, except for Sunday. Plyometrics is one of the hardest tapes and I am trying to get motivated to do it this morning. It is so hateful and to do it after only getting to eat a bran muffin, just seems so unfair! Also to jump around while not peeing my pants from all the water is near impossible. Pray for me!

How balanced am I?
For those that don't know me, being moderate or having balance in my life is nearly impossible. This contest is definitely challenging me in so many different aspects. Adding personal goals to a "so called" diet plan seems so simple but having that much balance in my life might just put me over the edge!
Split the winnings?
I think my little brother may be sensing his defeat in this game. A few posts ago, he suggested splitting the pot- $150 for 1st place team, $75 for 2nd place team and $50 dollars for 3rd place team. What do you all think? Obviously, more people would see some cash, however, it would be a major sacrifice for me as I already had my winnings spent (some really cute purses I have had my eye on..). But, because I am a good sport, (unlike my brother), I am totally willing to give a cut of my earnings to the less fortunate. It'll be a little taste of socialism right in our own game. Go Obama...(or Tyler Bart)
Lettuce Wraps a Fav!
Stacy your lettuce wraps were a hit at my house. My kids devoured them! They asked when we could have them again :)
Too Much Decadence
Okay, I went to bed after the Super Bowl feeding frenzy thinking that it really was not fun to feel so full -- why do we do it??? I am really glad to get back to a healthier lifestyle with some discipline thrown in. I am recommitted!
the super bowl is over
and it is somewhat of a relief. after a wedding, a weekend out of town, and the superbowl, i am glad to be back to my protected routine for today. this week is jake's birthday, my in-laws will be visiting for the whole week and it's valentine's. isn't that the way life is though. the idea of this game is to change our habits, including during busy eating times. i am grateful for the things that i am learning. i have to take a penalty for this weekend for a certain pastry, but i am still determined that our team is going to kick some serious butt.

SICK!
OK I feel terrible. Funny how that happens when you eat junk after eating healthy. Why do we do that to ourselves? I will be more excited to eat good tomorrow after the way I feel tonight. How are you feeling Stacy?
Saturday, February 6, 2010
Off the path!
I k now this has nothing to do with the game, but it sure puts your life into perspective. You all need to go to www.stakerzxposed.blogspot.com and read what this poor Orem mother is going through. A friend of one of my high school friends. It will really make you think about what is really important in our lifes!
Good Luck
Good luck to everyone avoiding the Super Bowl temptations tomorrow! Usually the food is all I look forward to. I hope cheat day doesn't get out of hand for me.
By the way...
So we don't have to chase money at the end of the game.. Everyone needs to pony up the cash ($25 per player) sometime this week if possible. If you want to give it to a team leader or send it to me - that is fine. We just need to make it easier to collect when the game is over and once you pay, your commitment level increases (at least that is the thought!). Kim- if you want to collect from your family and I will collect the Ashby players, that may be easiest.
Onward little soldiers...
Yo Homies...
Went skiing today. Hard to stay on the diet and really hard to stay on my feet!! It has been awhile, but I definately felt like I had a bit more stamina with my newer, fitter body. Even though is was hard to eat right, I did it and I love how this game causes you to form new, better habits. I did have to take my day off water because there was no way I was going up on the mountain with a full bladder. I have a hard enough time not peeing my pants laughing at myself and my cute kids and husband. Great times!!
Perfect score has come to an end, thanks to Ty, Kim and lovely teammate Sara who brought me a stinkin pastry from some uppity fancy bakery downtown. I only had a little bit, but enough for a penalty... CRAP!!
Great Scores!
I am thoroughly impressed with all the great scores for the first week. I hope everyone is feeling the effects of a more healthy lifestyle. I have a feeling this week is going to be a little harder, but I'm up to hanging in there. Great game everyone!

GAME ON!!!
After seeing all your perfect scores, i decided to step it up. We went to a movie tonight and i did not even succumb to one piece of yummy buttery popcorn.
Orange Chicken
Thank you Stacy for the Orange Chicken recipe. It was delicious! We made it with some Hungry Girl fried rice. It is no Chinese take-out but it was good. Here is the link. http://www.hungry-girl.com/chew/chewdetails.php?isid=1759
It calls for a fried rice seasoning packet. I used the whole thing and it was pretty salty. If I made it again I would use 1/2 or 3/4 of the packet.

i tried to make tonights dinner healthier for me. I washed the lean ground beef after cooking to get all the oil off. I omitted the chips and cheese. Just made a salad with fat free sour cream and a few avocado slices. Nummy, I didn't even miss the cheese or chips!
Day Off
I am not very smart and I took my food day off today right before the weigh in. We will see how that goes. Also, Jon is not trying to lose weight, what does he do about the bonus points? Thanks!
hi guys
can't wait to try the orange chicken and i can't believe tomorrow is weigh-in day. i am biting my fingernails. i hope that it is good! (weigh-in that is, not my fingernails.)
Home Stretch for the Week
We're closing in on our first week and I'm hoping everyone has a good weigh-in, especially Sara, Stacy, and me. I can't get Tyler to eat anything with any substance to it, so I'm afraid he's going to be nipping at our heels after the weigh-in. Go girls!

I made it!!
I finished my first succesful day with 100 points. Yeah for me!! Too bad it took me till the 6th day to figure it all out.
When the game is over
or when I have some time, I am going to compile all of our recipes and maybe do a small "game on" recipe book that we could quickly access for future games. So keep the recipes coming or it will be a mighty short cookbook.
ORANGE CHICKEN
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast
2 tsp dark sesame oil (could substitute canola oil)
2 tsp orange zest, strips (I just peeled a clementine and used the pieces of peeling)
salt and pepper
15 ounce can mandarin oranges in light syrup (mine was in water)
1/2 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth
1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon orange zest, finely grated or to taste (I again used clementine zest)
2 tsp cornstarch
Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Add zest strips and cook, stirring, until fragrant and slightly cooked, about 1-2 minutes. Meanwhile, season both sides of chicken with salt and pepper (i also used garlic powder). When zest is finished, increase heat to medium-high; add chicken to skillet and cook until golden, flipping once, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain oranges and reserve 1/4 cup liquid *** I drained about 1/4 cup of the water off my oranges and then put the oranges and the remaining liquid in the blender and pulsed for a few seconds. I didn't think anyone would like cooked chunks of mandarin oranges, so I just thought I would make a puree of it and use that instead*** Add oranges with reserved liquid (or above puree) to skillet and simmer 2 minutes. Whisk together broth, soy sauce, finely grated zest and cornstarch in a small bowl; add mixture to pan and simmer until sauce thickens and chicken is cooked through, about 3 minutes more ( I just kept mine on low until we were ready to eat).
I served mine with brown rice and edamame bean pods ( a new favorite with sea salt).
Looks like "CASH" is the winner!
How much does everyone want to put in? How about $25 dollars again?
If you don't agree, comment on what you would like..
Bye Bye to Braedon
Some of you may have noticed but Jodi and Lori lost a teammate today-so sad to see him go, but I understand completely!! He is a busy young man right now with a fiance and school and work and other responsibilities. I hope he continues to do what he can and follows our game.
Hang in there everybody. Weigh in will be here before you know it.
Had me some orange chicken tonight. Very tasty and I don't think at all bad for you. I will post the recipe later.
shopping
heading to the store to do more healthy shopping. My kids love all my food so they have scarfed it down. I am going to make stacys lettuce wraps this week. my kids love lettuce wraps. hopefully if i have the good food around i will do better on the eating part!
Going Well So Far
I just wanted to say "Thanks!" to all of you for being part of the game. It's such a big help to know that others are trying to be healthy too and the competition of the game (with your partner also counting on you) makes it so much easier. You're all the greatest!
lettuce wraps
we ate stacy's lettuce wraps last night at our house and they were sooooo good!!! thank you stacy for the recipe. i will be making them often. i don't know if matt totally got the idea. he said that it would be good with rice. next time, i will make some rice for him, but the lettuce wrap couldn't be tastier for me.

I LOVE HEATHY FOOD BUT HATE TO COOK
If anyone would like to make me healthy meals for the next 4 weeks, i will give them my entire winnings of the contest. Any takers??
final season of LOST starts tonight.
lets see if i get more lost or if everything is found this final season. oh, and the diet is going good.
Healthy Snack
I like sweet bell peppers and other veggies dipped in my favorite low-cal dressing- Paul Newman's Sweet Honey Mustard. Thats the best I could come up with, but it is really good.
New Day
Hi everyone. I almost had a heart attack last night when I was drifting off to sleep and remembered I hadn't communicated like I was supposed to yesterday. I was so tired though that I laid there and thought about whether or not I should get up but then, to my joy, I remembered I could take the day off. Whew, what a relief! I'm happy to hear from all of you on the blog, but I have to say I'm missing Todd. Stacy, do you think you could convince him to get on once in awhile, even if it is 2:30 a.m.? I'm thinking about Super Bowl snacks and one thing that comes to mind is chips and dip -- is there a way to make chips healthy and still capable of being dipped without shattering? I'm also thinking caramel popcorn or peanut butter and honey popcorn. For a healthy snack we could do cut-up fruit with low-fat fruit dip:
1 lg. Dannon low-fat yogurt (I like strawberry)
1 sm. pkg. fat-free sugar-free instant pudding (dry and any kind - I like vanilla)
1 8-oz. fat-free cool whip
Well everyone, have an excellent water-logged day!

where are all the men??? i am having to agree a little with tyler (don't tell him)...things have been a little quiet and tame so far.

Today was a good day. I got my water and exercise in early but we took our meal off tonight. Some friends came to town and we went out. It is hard to be good while out to eat. I did feel some improvement because I was really full after only half my food. Only that didn't stop me like it should have. Oh well, there is always tomorrow. We are making healthy chili and maybe a small treat for Sunday. Bring on the manly food posts!
My favorite snack of the moment..
1/2 cup of low-fat yogurt
1/2 cup of non-fat cottage cheese
Mix together and sprinkle some Bran Buds or GoLean cereal for a little crunch.
So yummy and so good for you and best of all it keeps you feeling full until dinner!
Too much estrogen!
Okay women - Although I am very interested in your hungry girl, kinetix, and "bagel" discussions, I would like to spur on a bit more of a "MANLY" discussion if possible. Hopefully this will bring those few quiet men "out of the shadowy corners" of the blog, and get them to contribute on this post.
So, with that in mind, lets hear about your favorite Super Bowl snack/food - everyone has to post two snacks - one that is just DARN good without relevance to its caloric intake, and another that some of us may consider healthy options for Sunday since we are all dieting!
I will go first:
Unhealthy Snack - stuffed jalapenos: Kim will post the recipe later (LOL)
Healthy Snack - Tabouli: Mom will post the recipe later. Avoid eating tabouli with fritos!
Bring on the goodies! My mouth is watering...oh wait...that is just watery throwup in my mouth from all the water drinking!

bagels
kimmie, your sandwich sounded so good, i had to tell you about my latest find....Western Bagels - the Alternative Bagel - sweet wheat. i got them from wal-mart and you will never believe...1 bagel has 110 calories, .5 grams of fat and 8 (yes, eight!) grams of fiber (1 WW point mom). they are delicious, i am in heaven. maybe you already know about these, but i was quite delighted. they are located in the refrigerated section, next to the cream cheese. it's a little sad when a bagel can make your day, but it is what it is.
QUICK N' EASY LUNCH
Bagel Cucumber Sandwich
1 wheat bagel (toast it if desired)
spread with fat free cream cheese
top with sliced cucumber
salt and pepper to taste
I forgot all about this healthy meal til I was craving one today and it filled me up pretty good! By the way...1 wheat bagel has half the fat of 2 slices of wheat bread....I was shocked to learn that!!!

HELLO DULANEY SIBLINGS!!!
Hey you guys! I know you're new to this, but I'm only going to say this once! WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!!! It's A-Okay to text or email or call your opponents to get your communication points every day. But it is a lot of fun to read and post on the blog just so everyone can see how you're doing with the diet and also get to know your personalities a little better. Plus, blogging is where all the "trash-talking"/"sibling rivalry" happens and we can't do that if you don't post something!!!!
