hors d' oeuvres


Hors means outside -
oeuvre means work. Oeuvre also means what one produces. For example; when one talks about an artist's oeuvre he is talking about the artist's works of art.
In the culinary language it means the little titbits, savourings, snacks that one nibbles at before the main meal. Hors d'oeuvres means outside the main meal.
I Just want you to know, that there is no crime in wishing for a smaller derriere, I am just sick of dragging it around.
