PRONATION VS. SUPINATION
Laureen you had to bring up exercise shoes- one of my pet peeves. I know most of you don't know me so before I go into a detailed discussion about buying exercise shoes you need to know where I'm coming from. I got a degree related to this in college. Most athletic shoe makers assume people have a supination (you wear out your heals on the outside) which most people do so they make shoes that pronate. If you have a pronation (you wear out your shoes on the inside)however, then most athletic shoes are going to cause you problems i.e. ankle pain, knee pain, back pain. You CAN often buy great athletic shoes for less if you know what to look for & how you wear out your shoes. I have yet to find an athletic store whose clerks know any of this so asking doesn't work. If you get pain in your joints when you do weight baring exercise most of the time it is your shoes. I'm sorry to be so boring but on the bright side, it is late and reading this should put you to sleep.
