Lucky Man

In honor of the baseball post season getting underway (part of my favorite time of the year) I'd like to quote Lou Gehrig who said: "Today, I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth." Gehrig said this upon his forced (early) retirement from the fabled NY Yankees. He was forced to retire because he had contracted the dread disease ALS (now known as Lou Gehrig's disease). So why then would he consider himself the luckiest man?

One might think he was kind of unlucky since his disease was fatal. But Gehrig teaches us all that each "one more day" is quite remarkable. That to wake up and be able to make a little more difference is lucky indeed. Thank God none of us has the burden of a fatal disease. We're really lucky to be pretty healthy and to be on track to the best health of our lives. Let's all make the most of it. Best to all.
